Word For Word Factory is a small, language-focused studio that explores the social and emotional experience of being alive—and trying to survive—in the early 21st century. Through enamel pins, buttons, paper goods, and small gifts, the studio examines contemporary life from a social justice perspective.

Queer- and chronically ill-owned, Word For Word Factory has been creating original pinback button designs for more than 13 years. Its products encourage people to express who they are, what they value, and the causes they care about.

Giving back is central to the studio's mission. A portion of every purchase supports social justice organizations that uplift and advocate for women, LGBTQ+ communities, and Black and Brown lives.

Word For Word Factory is the studio practice of Los Angeles–based interdisciplinary artist Nicole C. Russell, whose work has explored color, language, and life under capitalism for more than 25 years.
